My motorcycle

I have chosen a yellow/black 2001 BMW F650GS for this project. It’s a dual-sport bike capable of traversing rural dirt roads and neglected pavement with authority–often the routes that lead to the stories I’m looking for. Among my modifications are…

–Happy Trails aluminum panniers and top box

–SW Motech crashbars

–Z Technik touring windscreen

  1. Adam,

Good luck on your trip. I have that same bike, same year, same color, and love it. Pretty much set up like yours, Happy Trails panniers, BMW “pumpkin” top box, crash bars, and I too have a pair of TKC80 tires for the dirt. I have the Anakee 2’s on right now for more road riding. I assume you know about http://www.f650.com? There’s plenty of tech help over there, used it many times myself.

I’ll keep an eye out for you on ADV and here as well. I wish I had the time and energy to do a trip like yours. In the mean time, I’ll live vicariously through your posts.

    Cheers,

    Bill

    • Hey Bill,

Yes, I know about f650.com … I now have a Heidenau K60 Scout on the back as of San Diego and the TKC is still on the front. Thanks for the interest, man. Things are just getting started… And as far as you traveling, where there’s a will, there’s a way! Do it!

      Cheers,
      Adam
